About

One Writer. Original Stories.

Anemious Films isn't a studio or a production company — it's just me, Erik, writing screenplays. The name might suggest something bigger, but the work speaks for itself: original scripts built on characters who are flawed, funny, and unapologetically real.

Actionable Insights

They thought no one could resist a pug. But one did.

A young scientist helps her employer develop a vaccine to give intelligence to pugs, while a Chinese lab leak divides the world. Now she must decide: fight back with pangolins or get ruled by the wrinkle.

Synopsis

A young Engabel once believed plants could talk to each other. Her mother called it fantasy. The neighbor’s pug made a hot mess of the idea as well.

Twenty years later, Engabel is a promising researcher at Pharmalux, recruited onto a prestigious project by Sterling Winslow, a corporate mentor whose devotion to process borders on the religious. But when she accidentally walks off with classified documents, she discovers that the project she joined has nothing to do with plant science.

With the help of her friends, Engabel learns how to confront the question tormenting humans for centuries: what happens when some idiot gives a pug size and girth? The answer may shock you. It may even drool on you. But it will surely teach you that in a world of solar cookies and pickled socks, integrity requires calling a pug a pug.

The House Always Wins

Never bet against the house.

When a dead couple’s will allows a pair of foster kids to change the rules of the game, they find out that the thing worth fighting for was never the deed.

Synopsis

Raffy wants a home no one can take away. Paquita wants followers and a way out. What they have is an unending series of moves in a fraying system. Then a dead couple’s will drops a bomb: any licensed guardian who lives in the house for three years takes the deed. With the help of their social worker, the kids flip the script and have foster parents come to them. If they can survive, then the house is theirs. But the series of ‘impossible couples’ puts their patience to the test. By the time the system moves to shut them down, the kids face a harder choice than any clause in the will: keep the house, or keep what the house now means.
